Setting Cities Free - God of the Impossible: Day Thirteen, Week Thirteen

This week's prayer is a powerful tool to keep our cities rid of influences that further demoralize our culture.

City managers, Council members, and County Boards of Supervisors have the power to allow or block businesses such as psychics, strip clubs, Casinos, card rooms, marijuana dispensaries, and abortion clinics, just to name a few. In my city, our City Council is made up of five people, and our Board of Supervisors is made up of five people. Those 10 people decide what will or will not be allowed into my community. Your town is not much different.

Many of these establishments already exist in most cities and counties around California, but that doesn't mean things can't change. Those entities bring with them demonic forces that begin to influence culture wherever they are.

However, when Godly leaders step up and speak out, standing up for family values, morality, and righteousness, cities can be set free, city leaders can be influenced in a Godly way, and the people living in those areas can experience a better quality of life. Just look at Philip, Paul, and Silas's impact on their cities.

We see in Acts 8 and Acts 16 that spirits operating through individuals controlled towns and businesses, oppressing them and holding them back from the truth of Jesus Christ.

In Acts 8, we see that a man's demonic spirit controlled an entire city:

"But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, '"This man is the great power of God.'" And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time" (Acts 8:9-11 NKJV).

In Acts 16, we see Paul and Silas confronting a fortune-telling slave girl, setting her free in the name of Jesus, and the fallout from it: the businesses had them arrested and put in jail.

Whenever spirits of this type are allowed to operate openly, evil and decay follow in their wake.

As we pray, we DO NOT pray against the principalities operating in our cities and counties. That is a subject matter all its own. We must pray for the individuals who have the authority to make the decisions. Then let God do the rest!

Our City and County leaders are just people who can be influenced for good. If you do not know the leaders of your community, call their office and make an appointment to meet with them. Get to know them. Let them know you are praying for them. Encourage them. You will feel good about it, and so will they!

Thank you all for praying with me for our State.

Until next week, occupy until He comes.
